Harmonizing renewable energy growth and the preservation of Italy’s natural and artistic heritage
Rome, December 5, 2024, GSE Auditorium, 9:30 AM – 1:00 PM

Italy faces the challenge of accelerating the energy transition while safeguarding its extraordinary landscape and cultural heritage.
The growth of renewables is crucial for achieving climate goals, yet it raises complex issues regarding territorial impact, community acceptance, and the balance with the natural and artistic landscape.
In this context, the study “Renewable Energy Development and the Landscape” by Althesys, in collaboration with the European Climate Foundation, will be presented. Leading players from the energy sector, institutions, architectural and landscape experts, environmental associations, and civil society representatives will discuss the study.
The event will address opportunities and challenges related to this delicate balance, exploring topics such as the future of renewable landscapes, the benefits of agrivoltaics and wind repowering, regulatory and infrastructural challenges, and community engagement.
Key questions to be addressed include:
- How can renewables harmoniously integrate into the Italian landscape?
- What policies and regulatory tools can support an environmentally and territorially respectful transition?
- What role do associations and local communities play in designing a sustainable energy future?
The event will provide a 360-degree view, featuring high-level contributions from Italian and European experts and institutions, fostering a constructive dialogue toward a virtuous model of coexistence between clean energy and land conservation.
An unmissable event for those seeking to understand the challenges and opportunities of Italy’s energy transition while respecting its unique heritage.
